Once, while mending a broken heart, I was ranting to a friend about my latest relationship drama. In between sobs of pathetic self-pity. I was asking him to justify some guy’s lame breakup excuse. He listened fervently as I dissected the parting spiels and analyzed the final text messages. I was hoping to elicit some feel-food, rah-rah encouragement – something along the lines of “His loss, Malas n’ya.” With this note, I share with you my dear friend’s two words of wisdom: “Ikaw Kasi…” It may sound like a reproach or sermon, and for some part, it sounds so anti-Cosmo. But, as my friend knocked some sense into me, these two words can actually provide you with Cosmotized insight. Spinning it to be constructive, it simply means that you have control over your life. Leave no room for cluelessness, helplessness, or self-pity – ‘di na uso ‘yan. As a Cosmo chick, you’re privy to knowledge that can help you achieve your ideal relationship give you career contentment (this issue even lays out a 12month plan to achieve it!), and make you an it girl.
