Buying digital camera can seem really difficult – there are so many different brands, cameras, features and price points. Unless you’re a photographic pro, it can be tricky to narrow down your search. But fear not: I’ve done the hard work for you! Here’s the best selection of what;s available in the market right now…

CANON Digital IXUS 90 Is

A small camera that crams a host of automatic and manual features into its modest dimensions – Face detection, image stabilizing ( that’s the IS on its name ), noise reduction, enhanced auto-focus for low-light shooting – and as a result it does take excellent pictures. There are 19 shooting modes too, and extensive video shooting options. Could do better: Perhaps too many special functions for the average point-and-shoot photographer, and they can be a bit fiddly to set up.

SONY CYBER-SHOT T77SI

Just 15mm thin and available in five funky colors ( silver, black, brown, green,  and pink ) the T77 wins hands-down in the style stakes. Its also very easy to use, with “anti-blink” on its face detection mode – won’t take a shot if someone blinks – and a smile shutter mode that automatically takes the pic when someone smiles. The T77 is also the worlds slimmest camera with image stabilization: 10.1 megapixel, 4x optical zoom, wide 3in-inch touchscreen-cum-viewer. Check out the T77 – even larger touchscreen and 4 GB of internal memory ( the T77 only has 15MB ).

CANON POWERSHOT G10

A great camera for anyone who wants more features than you get with most compacts but not the bulkiness and fussiness of a full-scale digital SLR camera with interchangeable lenses. The G10′s 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens is great for shots like landscapes, architecture or interiors; Canon’s image stabilizer is very good; and whooping 14.7 megapixel resolution allows printing up to A2 size or as much creative Photoshopping as you like. Of course you get face detection, 26 shooting modes with manual control and custom settings, smooth CD-like movies, and enough accessories to keep any camera nerd happy.
